This course is for absolute beginners who want to take their first steps on the mat but have felt unsure about where to start and perhaps intimidated by joining a public class as a beginner, yes, I know the feeling!
In 4 consecutive weekly sessions you’ll learn the foundations of a complete yoga practice in a down-to-earth and accessible way within a friendly, supportive and intimate environment. Join us and walk away with the confidence and knowledge to begin your yoga practice and join a studio class!
We’ll explore the following;
Session 1 (Saturday 17th July):
Introduction to yoga history and philosophy
Basic prāṇāyāma (breathing excersises)
Warming up & surya namaskar (sun salutations)
Session 2 (Saturday 24th July):
Recap of previous session
Standing and Seated āsana (postures)
Focus: Forward folds
Session 3 (Saturday 31st July):
Recap on previous sessions
Restorative āsana (postures)
Focus: Balances, twists and basic inversions
Session 4 (Saturday 7th August):
Recap on previous sessions
Vinyasa (synchronising movement with breath)
Focus: Backbends
Meditation
Props will be provided but you will need to bring your own mat.
