Practice

What has your practice looked like recently?

Your yoga practice is not just what you do on the mat, It’s off the mat that our practice truly begins. Ultimately what you do on your mat is simply preparation, a training ground for your true yoga practice, your everyday life!

So, with that being said, my yoga practice has looked a little more like this lately...

Saying sorry.

Tasting the food on my plate.

Forgiving myself.

Taking a breath before I respond.

Helping a family member.

Asking for what I deserve.

Listening with full presence.

Telling the truth.

Cleaning my teeth at night even when I'm too tired to!

Washing the dishes with a smile.

Trying again.

Taking a covid test.

Nourishing myself with rest.

Asking myself what I could do differently.

Watching the clouds go by.

Saying no.

Accepting things as they are.

Resting in being.

Yes, our traditional practice (Sarvanga Sadhana - I’ll save that for another post!) is an important part of being an active yogi in practice but it we must remember, just because you may have not practiced asana, pranayama or meditation on your mat in a while or even ever before, it doesn’t mean you’re not practicing yoga.

Yoga isn’t something we do, it’s a mindset, a world view, a philosophy, an understanding, an exploration of who we are and who we are not.

It’s in the choices we make.

So if your practice doesn’t quite look like the way you think it should, then don’t force it.

Simply surrender effort and let yoga be lived through you in your own way.

In time you’ll find your practice unfolds in the exact way it was meant to.
